Soothing online ambiences III

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Our series of online ambience generators continue! This time, Whitvawes tool combines many of our previous ambiences together.

With this tool you can set the levels for multiple sound sources and even export the results as a audio file! These include fire, rain, birds, wind, drums, animals and whatnot. Check it out! Definitely a good soundtrack for a little hammock session if no radio with Sunday Coma is nearby.

Chris Coco guest mix on the show!

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Chris Coco is going to continue our list of guest DJ’s that have been invited (and agreed!) to play on Sunnuntaikooma radio show. This is very special treat for us, because Chris’s and Rob Da Bank‘s ‘Blue Room’ radio show had a LOT to do with me choosing to start doing Sunnuntaikooma on Basso Radio in the first place. Besides Blue Room on BBC Radio 1, Chris has made his mark as a editor for DJ Magazine as well as releasing his music on such labels as ‘Distinct’ive‘ and ‘Big Chill‘, Big Chill released his latest album ‘Feel Free Live Good‘ last month.

So do not miss this EXCLUSIVE dj mix from Chris for us and get your tape recorders ready! Remember that you can stream it over the internet as well, so you won’t miss it, not even while enjoying your holiday in Aruba. Just find the link ‘Open Basso Radio M3U Stream’ from the right! While waiting for the show, do check out Chris’s website, his new blog and naturally also his audible works. He hosts his weekly podcast ‘Melodica‘, that continues the journey towards balearic bliss started with Blue Room. Great stuff, check it out while at it!

DJ Mag, together with Chris and his latest album graphic designer Anthony Burrill are throwing a competition where you could win a signed poster! Check the details here! While there, vote for Chris (or any other favorite DJ of yours) in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll!

So remember, Sunday Coma Radio Show next Sunday, 22:00 pm (local Finnish time, details here) with me – and Chris Coco in the guest mix slot!

Spread the love.. Use Twitter and Facebook buttons below to share this with your friends. Stumbleupon users, remember that thumbs up!

Online Meditation Room

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Meditation is probably the most underestimated things in western culture even though benefits can bring so much good to anyone practicing it.

Do As One is online community type of room, where you can launch browser based ambience generator to mask out any disturbances.

You can also view a live map of other people joining in to the same session. If you are not familiar with easy meditation techniques yet, check this website for advice! If you are experienced in meditation, check this nice page about different levels of meditation.

Check out also older posts from Sunnuntaikooma blog under tag ‘meditation’ for different tools to create soothing ambiences!

Celestial Drones – live from Saturn

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Cassini spacecraft did record the sounds of Saturn’s rings, as well as Huygens captured sounds from the Titan atmosphere.

And no, there is no air to transmit sound waves, but instead they have hot ionized gas – or plasma – that works in a similar manner.

Either way, these drones from Saturn are amongst the most beautiful cosmic sounds that I’ve stumbled upon so far.

Thank god earth is fighting back with more quality programming like Sunnuntaikooma! Wonder how far some fragments of our first shows from 2004 have traveled so far…

Flowing at the Flow Festival

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Ok, so it was early Friday evening when me and my missys kicked off our Flow weekender. There was plenty of interesting stuff going on, but the definitive high point for us on the first night was AIR live at the main stage. Plenty of tracks from their early albums and almost every single hit song. Can’t say I could ask for anything more. Well, couple of less known tracks to sooth it out, but they kinda did do that too.

Main stage was kicked off with Tony Allen and Jimi Tenor earlier, and they did deliver some golden stoner funk moments. Otherwise, the Back Yard with very chilled out atmosphere was our favorite. Home boy DJ Didier delivered, and we enjoyed! Weakest link of this amazing Festival is their website, artist descriptions are at times very non-informative. So many unknown artists got left unknown. Anyways – great start for a great festival.

Crowds were definitely in on Saturday, festival area was packed with 15 000 people and it was pretty tricky to move around at times. You even couldn’t get in to some venues – at all. Owen Pallet for example could have very well performed at the tent stage like last year. This year’s smaller club venue was packed in an instant. Heat was also unbearable the night before when checking out Four Tet’s last tunes. Besides Owen, Saturday included such gems as Husky Rescue, Beach House, Junip, Vladislav Delay and UK’s answer to Missy Elliot, M.I.A.

Eventually Saturday was taken over with a storm by Dj Harvey (Harvey Bassett). Harvey delivered long set of balearic bliss at outdoor Back Yard venue by the garden. Excellent set.

Sunday’s biggest hopes were on Jónsi, but mr. Hansson from Sigur Ros fame managed to broke his arm at Way Out West festival in Göteborg. So cancellation was bound to happen.

Overall Flow has been much better than year before, even I did have my doubts earlier. If interested, check it out. It’s definitely worth the trip. Just get your tickets early.
