Celestial Drones – live from Saturn

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Cassini spacecraft did record the sounds of Saturn’s rings, as well as Huygens captured sounds from the Titan atmosphere.

And no, there is no air to transmit sound waves, but instead they have hot ionized gas – or plasma – that works in a similar manner.

Either way, these drones from Saturn are amongst the most beautiful cosmic sounds that I’ve stumbled upon so far.

Thank god earth is fighting back with more quality programming like Sunnuntaikooma! Wonder how far some fragments of our first shows from 2004 have traveled so far…

Owen Pallett Live at Tavastia (Helsinki)

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Owen ‘Square Enix Law Suit’ Pallet, also known as Final Fantasy, boosted a live PA yesterday in Tavastia club in heart of Helsinki. Pretty OK show, but I must say that he was a bit wasted and his solo bits were definitely best parts of the gig.

I haven’t seen him previously with other artists and that might have something to do with it. But it didn’t help that Thomas Gill wasn’t so on sync with Owen – or vice versa. On quite a few tracks, the attention did slip focusing on some misplayed chords or to breaking up Tavastia microphone lines. Blame it on the boogie (or doobie), but at least those Tavastia folks should really up the ante on that venue.

Since one of the best live performances I’ve ever witnessed was performed by Owen, I’m fine with everything and still think that EVERYONE should go and see Owen perform live. And my girlfriend really liked this Tavastia gig too, even she hasn’t heard him live before.

Happened to stumble upon a Youtube recording from the gig, check it out!
